Tree Trimming in Marengo and Central Ohio
Deadwood out, limbs off the roof and the canopy thinned and shaped. Tree trimming and pruning from a 75 ft bucket truck, backed by 30 years in the trees.
Tree Trimming And Pruning That Keeps Your Trees Standing
A good trim does two things. It takes away what is dead, broken or in the way, and it leaves the tree stronger than we found it. We cut limbs back to the right spot so the tree heals over, and we reach the high ones from the bucket so they are not left for the next storm.
- Reaches The High LimbsThe bucket goes up 75 ft, so the dead top and the long limb over the roof are both in reach.
- Cuts Made The Right WayLimbs are cut back to a branch or the trunk, not left as stubs that rot.
- Good For The Tree And The HouseLess weight on weak limbs, more light and air through the canopy, and branches off the shingles and gutters.
- Brush Gone When We LeaveEverything we cut goes through the chipper and the yard is cleaned up.

What A Tree Trimming Job Can Include
Tell us what is bothering you about the tree and we will tell you which of these it needs.
Deadwood Removal
Dead limbs are the first thing to fall in wind or ice. Taking them out makes the tree safer and lets it put its energy into live wood.
Tree Limb Removal
One big limb over the roof, the driveway or the fence. We cut it in pieces from the bucket and lower it down.
Crown Thinning
Picking out crowded and crossing branches so wind passes through the tree and more light reaches the lawn.
Crown Reduction
Bringing the height or spread of a tree back by cutting to side branches. It is the right way to make a tree smaller without topping it.
Clearance Trimming
Raising low limbs and cutting back growth from the house, the garage, the drive, the barn and the line to the house.
Storm Damage Pruning
Broken and hanging limbs cut back clean after a storm so the tree can heal and nothing is left waiting to fall.
Signs Your Trees Are Due For A Trim
Most trees do well with a trim every few years. Do not wait for the calendar if you see any of these.
- Dead Or Hanging BranchesBare limbs in summer, or a broken branch caught up in the canopy.
- Limbs On The Roof Or SidingBranches that rub shingles and gutters wear them out and give squirrels a bridge to the attic.
- Too Much ShadeGrass thinning out under the tree and a yard that never dries.
- Heavy Limbs Over Something That MattersThe house, the driveway, the swing set or the place you park the truck.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about tree trimming and pruning in central Ohio.
It depends on the size of the tree, how much has to come off and what is under it. One limb over a roof is a small job. Thinning several big oaks is a bigger one. We look at the trees and give you a free estimate first.
For most trees, late fall through winter is best. The tree is dormant, the leaves are off and the whole structure is easy to see. Dead, broken and dangerous limbs can come off any time of year.
Yes. Oaks are best trimmed in the cold months. Fresh cuts in spring and summer can draw the beetles that spread oak wilt, so winter is the time for oak trimming unless a limb is a hazard.
People use both words for the same job. Pruning usually means cutting for the health and structure of the tree. Trimming usually means cutting for looks and clearance. A good job does both.
Topping means cutting the whole top off flat. It is hard on a tree, and the weak fast growth that comes back is more likely to break. If a tree is too tall or too wide, a crown reduction cut back to side branches is the better way, and we will tell you if your tree is a good fit for it.
Every three to five years is a good rule for mature shade trees. Young trees and fast growers can need it sooner. Trees near the house are worth a look every year or two.
Yes. The brush goes through the chipper and the yard is raked before we pull out.
